Job Title: Animal Scientist
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: NYSC
Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting field and laboratory research on animal nutrition, breeding, health, and behavior.
- Collect, analyze, and document data from experiments, feed trials, or livestock monitoring programs.
- Maintain accurate records of observations and experimental outcomes.
- Support the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and scientific publications.
- Participate in training programs, farm visits, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Ensure adherence to animal welfare guidelines and biosecurity protocols.
- Collaborate with farm managers, veterinarians, and other stakeholders to implement animal care and management practices.
- Monitor animal performance, health status, and feed intake under various conditions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Animal Production, Agriculture, or a related field.
- 0 – 1 year of relevant work or internship experience (farm-based experience is an advantage).
- Strong interest in research, data analysis, and sustainable livestock practices.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to travel to field locations and work in rural/agricultural settings.
- Basic knowledge of animal physiology, genetics, nutrition, and health management.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
