Job description: Job Opportunity: Master Grower – NigeriaOur client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Master Grower to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the cultivation and production of a variety of crops. As a Master Grower, you will oversee the entire cultivation process, from seed to harvest, ensuring optimal growth and the production of high-quality yields. Your expertise in horticulture, plant biology, and cultivation techniques will be essential in maintaining a successful and efficient growing operation.Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Vegetable Crops and Facilities: Manage all aspects of vegetable crop production and ensure facilities are operating efficiently.
  • Develop Cultivation Plans: Create detailed cultivation plans and assign duties to team members to optimize productivity.
  • Ensure Growth Requirements: Monitor and maintain the growth requirements of vegetable plants, including lighting, soil pH, and nutrient levels.
  • Lead Maintenance Operations: Oversee maintenance operations, including waste disposal and contamination prevention.
  • Diagnose Plant Health Issues: Identify and resolve plant health issues such as mould, mildew, and pest infestations.
  • Manage Inventory and Budgets: Oversee inventory management and budgeting for farming operations, including equipment, security, and HVAC systems.
  • Supervise and Coach Employees: Lead and mentor employees who tend to the plants, ensuring they are well-trained and motivated.
  • Inspect Quality of Harvest: Conduct quality inspections of the harvest to ensure high standards are met.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven Experience: Significant experience as a grower, preferably in a large-scale operation, with management experience required.
  • Knowledge of Growth Cycles: In-depth understanding of the entire vegetable growth cycle and its requirements.
  • Pest and Disease Management: Familiarity with pest and disease management techniques to maintain plant health.
  • Continuous Learning: A willingness to stay updated on horticulture and vegetable farming trends.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong aptitude for identifying and addressing cultivation challenges, such as nutrient deficiencies and pest issues.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
  • Educational Background: A degree in Botany, Biology, Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field is a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using computer software and systems for cultivation management, including inventory management and environmental control systems.
  • Certifications: Any additional certifications or training related to cultivation or horticulture would be advantageous.
