Job Title: Production Technologist

Location: Lagos 

Line Manager: Petroleum Engineering & Development Lead

Job Summary

  • Production Technologist drives production optimization to maximize hydrocarbon recovery while ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable operations.
  • The role provides technical leadership in well performance, artificial lift, sand control, well integrity, and stimulation, while promoting the adoption of innovative technologies and best practices.
  • By working closely with reservoir, drilling, and operations teams, the technologist ensures production strategies are aligned with business objectives to enhance asset performance and long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities

Production Performance Analysis:

  • Analyse production data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
  • Utilize software tools and techniques to assess production performance and optimize operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions and improve overall production efficiency.

Integrated Production Systems Modelling:

  • Build integrated production systems models to simulate the behaviour of oil and gas fields.
  • Analyse system dynamics, including fluid flow, reservoir depletion, and facility constraints.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize field development plans and production strategies.

Project Management:

  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to align project objectives and priorities.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to achieve project goals.

Well Modelling:

  • Develop well models to simulate reservoir behaviour and predict production performance.
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses and evaluate different scenarios to optimize the well performance.
  • Work closely with reservoir engineers to integrate well models into reservoir management strategies.

Nodal Analysis:

  • Perform nodal analysis to evaluate pressure drop, flow rates, and other critical parameters in production systems.
  • Identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities in the production network.
  • Recommend solutions to enhance production and maximize asset value.

Requirements

Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in Production Technology and Engineering Operations in the oil industry.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Knowledge, experience and proficiency demonstrated in all the activities described above.
  • Expertise in well testing, performance analysis, and production optimization methods and strong understanding of reservoir dynamics, including fluid flow, pressure behaviour, and enhanced oil recovery techniques.
  • Experience with production modelling software such as Prosper, GAP, tNavigator, or similar tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of nodal analysis techniques and their application to production optimization.
