Terra Aqua Environmental Consultancy Limited is a Metal Recycling Plant a prominent player in the recycling industry. Specializing in the conversion of aluminum scraps and Used Beverage Cans (UBC) into high-quality aluminum ingots, our plant initially boasted a production capacity of 1200MT per month. Driven by a commitment to innovation and sustainability, we expanded our operations with a state-of-the-art facility with an installed capacity of 8,600MT of aluminium alloy ingots per month. This expansion underscores our dedication to addressing both environmental challenges and market demands.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Finance Officer

Location: Sango Ota, Ogun

Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

Bank Reconciliations:

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of all company bank accounts
  • Investigate and resolve all reconciling items, including outstanding deposits, unposted items, bank errors, and other discrepancies.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed bank reconciliation reports.

General Ledger Reconciliations:

  • Perform regular reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts, such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, intercompany accounts, and suspense accounts.
  • Prepare and post necessary journal entries to correct discrepancies and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for all reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Identify and investigate any variances between the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.

Financial Reporting and Month-End Close:

  • Assist with the monthly and annual financial close processes.
  • Contribute to the preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by financial controller or next in rank

Process Improvement and Controls:

  • Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation processes and enhance internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting systems or software as needed.

Statutory & Taxation:

  • Prepare and file monthly Value Added Tax (VAT) and Withholding Tax (WHT) returns
  • Prepare and remit other statutory levies and contributions, such as Pension (PENCOM)
  • Monitor and ensure that all tax and statutory deadlines are met to avoid penalties and interest charges.
  • Compute and remit monthly Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) deductions to the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OIRS) for all employees.

Qualifications / Skills

  • HND or BSC in Accounting, Finance, or related field (ACA certification or final stage is a plus).
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in manufacturing sector
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and statutory compliance
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., ERPNEXT QuickBooks, SAGE or similar) and MS Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
