Job Title: Finance Assistant – Bridging Beliefs & Behaviour (Gates Foundation project)

Description
- The Finance Assistant will be responsible for assisting and supporting in managing day to day financial operations to ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately, funds are used effectively, transparently and donor/organization financial policies and other relevant financial regulations are followed.
- To provide support in providing accurate financial data for preparation of donor reports, ensure supporting documents are properly filled and management of petty cash.
Duties & Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records, files and documentations
- Assist the Senior Finance Officer (SFO) in Preparing and posting of accounting entries
- Participate in month ends closure
- Participate in budget preparation during proposal writing
- Prepare payment vouchers, check and upload of payment on the online banking system
- Ensure the various taxes deducted are remitted to the relevant tax authorities
- Participate in the development of development of strategies, policies, programme and plan
- Support the implementation of internal control
- Support in providing financial data for donor and management reporting
- Ensure proper filing of voucher, invoices and other supporting documents
- Verify accuracy and completeness of invoice and supporting document
- Assist in handling and maintaining petty cash
- Assist the SFO to ensure settlement of staff advances, reimbursements and vendors payment
- Any assigned duties by the Finance Manager
Role Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Financial management.
- A student in ICAN/ANAN professional level/exam is an added advantage
- Minimum of (3) three years of relevant work experience in the areas of finance, accounting and financial management in NGO/auditing
- Proven experience in book-keeping, accounting and financial
- Strong record keeping and documentations skills
- Understanding of Nigeria tax system and it application to NGO’s
- Ability to relate to people from a variety of diverse cultural backgrounds
- Desire to train and develop others
- Personal Christian maturity
- Ability to work as part of a team and under own initiative
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to changing circumstances.
- Understanding of financial reporting and budget monitoring
- Knowledge of donor financial compliance requirements
- Proficiencies in MS excel and other accounting software
- Attention to details and accuracy in financial entries
- Abilities to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
