Job Title: Accounts Officer

Location: Sango Ota, Ogun

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Accounting Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing timely financial reports.
  • The role involves managing daily accounting operations, reconciling financial data, and using accounting software to streamline processes and maintain transparency in financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Record Management:

  • Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions in accordance with company policies and accepted accounting standards.
  • Maintain accurate general ledgers and subsidiary accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries and ensure all accounting records are updated.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Process supplier invoices and staff reimbursements.
  • Monitor accounts receivable collections and prepare customer statements.
  • Reconcile supplier and customer accounts periodically.

Bank & Cash Reconciliation:

  • Prepare and reconcile bank statements on a monthly basis.
  • Monitor daily cash balances and ensure accurate cash flow records.

Use of Accounting Software:

  • Operate and maintain accounting data using software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, or SAP.
  • Generate reports, track expenses, and maintain accurate ledgers through digital systems.
  • Support automation of finance operations and digital recordkeeping.

Audit Support:

  • Assist internal and external auditors by providing required documentation.
  • Ensure audit trails are complete and transparent.

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Support the Finance Manager in preparing management accounts and budget variance reports.
  • Generate reports directly from accounting software.

Tax & Regulatory Compliance:

  • Support the preparation and filing of statutory returns (VAT, WHT, PAYE, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
  •  Previous experience at Flexible Packaging Company will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, or similar accounting software.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
