Job Title: Assistant Lawyer

Location: Asokoro, Abuja (FCT)

Job Brief

  • We are looking for a Company Lawyer whose job roles includesproviding legal guidance and support to businesses, ensure legal compliance, manage risk, and handle various legal matters related to the company’s operations.
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts, advising on mergers and acquisitions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and representing the company in legal proceedings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing Legal Advice: offer guidance on a wide range of legal issues, including contract law, corporate governance, securities law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Drafting and Reviewing Documents: prepare and review legal documents such as contracts, agreements, and policies to ensure they are legally sound and protect the company’s interests.
  • Regulatory Compliance: ensure that the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations, both at the local, state, federal, and international levels.
  • Risk Management: advise the company on potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Research, anticipate and guard company against legal risks
  • Guide managers and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
  • Structure, draft and review reports and other legal documents
  • Represent company in legal proceedings (administrative boards, court trials etc.)
  • Draft and administer all contracts
  • Negotiate deals and attend company meetings
  • Corporate Governance: establish and maintain the company’s governance framework, ensuring transparency and ethical conduct.
  • Intellectual Property: advise on matters related to intellectual property rights, such as trademarks and patents, and help protect the company’s intellectual assets.
  • Managing Legal Operations: manage all legal operations and procedures, including maintaining records and documentation related to legal matters.
  • Consult and handle all corporate legal processes (e.g. intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, financial/securities offerings, compliance issues, transactions, agreements, lawsuits, patents)
  • Develop company policy and position on legal issues.
  • Negotiation and Dispute Resolution: negotiate contracts and agreements with other parties and represent the company in legal disputes, either through negotiation or litigation.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: handle crucial role in mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions, including due diligence, negotiation, and drafting relevant documents.

Requirements and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law
  • Proven comparable law firm experience
  • Administrative and managerial skills
  • Analytical ability and strong attention to detail
  • Computer skills
  • Current licence to practise law.
  • Proven background on corporate law (contract law, tax law, accounting, securities law, bankruptcy, intellectual property rights, licensing, zoning laws)
  • Excellent negotiation and communications skills

Salary

N200,000 – N250,000 / month
