Assistant Manager, Finance (Credit Portfolio Capital Management) at the African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank)


African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank) was established in Abuja, Nigeria in October, 1993 by African Governments, African private and institutional investors as well as non-African financial institutions and private investors for the purpose of financing, promoting and expanding intra-African and extra-African trade.

The Bank, headquartered in Cairo, the capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt, commenced operations on 30 September, 1994, following the signature of a Headquarters Agreement with the host Government in August, 1994. It has branch offices in Harare, Abuja and Abidjan and will open an East Africa branch office shortly.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Assistant Manager, Finance (Credit Portfolio – Capital Management)

Location: Cairo, Egypt

Working time: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The role of the Assistant Manager, Finance (Credit Portfolio – Capital Management) is to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Bank’s capital management framework.
  • The role involves analytical and operational tasks associated with credit risk-weighted assets (RWAs), economic capital, regulatory capital metrics, and capital forecasting, ensuring alignment with internal risk appetite and external regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and monitoring of the Bank’s capital adequacy metrics and frameworks.
  • Assist in the assessment and reporting of credit risk-weighted assets (RWAs) under Basel and internal models.
  • Maintain documentation and controls related to capital management policies and procedures.
  • Assist in preparing internal and external reports on capital adequacy, including inputs to regulatory and rating agencies.
  • Perform capital forecasting and scenario analysis to guide strategic and risk-based decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on capital impact assessments of new business and initiatives.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CFA is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial analysis, capital management, credit risk, or related roles within financial institutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using Excel, SQL, or related financial modeling tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of Basel framework, credit risk modeling, capital planning, and portfolio analytics.
