Job Title: Chef and Residence Manager

Job Summary
- Incumbent serves as Chef and Residence Manager responsible for the overall management of the Official Residence; preparation of vegetarian and vegan meals (no meat – including no fish or chicken – is to be served inside the Official Residence) as well as catering for large-scale events; and supervision of the staff employed therein.
- The incumbent also oversees and provides guidance to Consulate support staff and contractors on residence maintenance, and preparation for events at the CGR.
- The incumbent establishes, directs and supervises the work schedule and performance of a staff of two (2) Official Residence Expense (ORE) staff working for the Consul General.
- Prepares weekly menus for vegetarian and vegan family meals.
- Proposes and prepares menu and budget for vegetarian and vegan representational dinners, events and receptions and is responsible for food procurement and preparation for those events.
- Responsible for maintaining a record of expenses and related receipts associated with the upkeep of official residence.
- Serves as liaison with the protocol office for official functions held at the Residence and with the Financial Management Office on matters pertaining to ORE and expenses.
- Serves as liaison with the Human Resources Office in regard to hiring and salary determination for all new ORE staff
- Assists in escorting contractors and guests at the Residence as may be required.
- Assists other ORE staff with kitchen clean up including washing pots, pans, dishes, etc.
- Maintains pay accounts for the ORE staff. Keeps attendance, such as annual leave days, over-time, and comp time.
- Supervises the installation, repair and upkeep of residential furnishings, equipment and appliances.
- Is responsible for the safekeeping and inventory of food, beverages and household supplies for the residence.
- Maintains an inventory of all residential crystal, flatware, silverware and llinens.
- Perform other duties as may be directed
Requirements
- Completion of Secondary School.
- Minimum of five years of experience as chef in catering or restaurant/hospitality industry. Management or supervisory experience is required.
- Ability to manage large budget for official events at the residence. Must be able to conduct inventory of household appliances, equipment, furniture, dishes, etc. Must have good interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees at all levels and diverse groups of people.
- Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading of English is required.
- Must be able to cook a variety of creative, nutritious, and delicious vegetarian and vegan meals.
Salary
USD $25,357 /Per Year.
