We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Coating Inspector
Location: Rivers
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-inspection of surfaces to be coated to ensure proper surface preparation, including checking for cleanliness, roughness, and profile before coating application.
- Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and dew point to ensure they are within the specified limits for coating application.
- Perform wet and dry film thickness measurements of applied coatings to ensure they meet the specified requirements.
- Ensure all coating work complies with applicable safety codes, industry standards (e.g., NACE, SSPC), and client specifications.
- Coordinate with the Coating Supervisor and other project team members to resolve any non-conformances or quality issues that arise.
- Review coating specifications, technical data sheets, and project drawings to understand job requirements and quality standards.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior inspectors and other team members on quality control procedures.
- Verify and document the correct mixing and application of coating materials according to technical data sheets and project specifications.
- Oversee and inspect the application of protective coatings to structural steel, piping, and equipment.
- Conduct final inspections and quality checks on completed work to ensure it meets all quality standards and client specifications.
- Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports, daily logs, and documentation of all coating activities, including materials used, equipment, and personnel.
Requirements
- A relevant technical certification in coatings inspection from a reputable institution (e.g., NACE, FROSIO, or SSPC) is required. A Degree in a related engineering field is an advantage.
- A minimum of 8years of experience as a Coating Inspector, with at least 5years specifically in an offshore oil and gas environment, with a proven track record of working on the Bonga FPSO.
- Proven experience inspecting surface preparation and coating application for maintenance, construction, and turnaround projects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with platform management, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail for conducting inspections and documenting findings.
- Proficiency in preparing detailed and accurate inspection reports and documentation.
- Willingness to work in a demanding offshore environment.
- Must hold valid offshore certifications such as BOSIET, OSP, and a valid medical certificate.
- This position requires working in a challenging offshore industrial environment on platforms or vessels.
- Strong ability to interpret coating specifications and technical documents.
- Thorough knowledge of surface preparation methods (e.g., abrasive blasting) and coating application techniques.
- Expertise in various coating systems, material data sheets, and quality control procedures.
