We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Coating Supervisor
Location: Rivers
Responsibilities
- Supervise the safe application of protective coatings and the execution of all surface preparation activities, such as abrasive blasting, on offshore platforms and vessels.
- Oversee the inspection of surfaces before, during, and after coating application to ensure compliance with quality standards. This includes monitoring environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity).
- Ensure that all coating work complies with applicable safety codes, industry standards (e.g., NACE, SSPC), and client specifications.
- Perform regular, documented inspections of all worksites to ensure safety and quality standards are being met.
- Interpret coating specifications, technical data sheets, and project drawings to determine job requirements and the correct sequence of work.
- Coordinate the procurement and delivery of all necessary coating materials, tools, and equipment offshore.
- Coordinate work with other supervisors and contractors on site to ensure seamless project flow.
- Schedule work crews, assign daily tasks, and monitor work progress to meet project deadlines.
- Provide instruction, training, and guidance to blasters, painters, and other staff, and resolve any work-related problems.
- Ensure all project work is completed in accordance with specifications, schedule, and safety requirements.
- Lead by example to drive safety awareness and assure safe workplace practices are followed at all times.
- Submit daily site reports, inspection requests, and other monitoring reports on a regular basis.
- Prepare and maintain detailed records and reports on personnel, equipment, material usage, and work performed.
- Ensure that safety standards are understood, implemented, and maintained by all team members and contractors.
- Assist the onsite construction team to ensure subcontractors are working to the project program and construction sequence.
Requirements
- Education/Professional Certification: A relevant technical certification in coatings inspection from a reputable institution is required. A degree in a related engineering field is an advantage.
- Minimum of 7years of experience in coating supervision, with at least 5years specifically in an offshore oil and gas environment.
- Proven experience supervising surface preparation and coating application for maintenance, construction, and turnaround projects.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with platform management, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively plan and schedule coating activities to ensure timely project completion.
- Willingness to work in a demanding offshore environment.
- Must hold valid offshore certifications such as BOSIET, OSP, and a valid medical certificate.
- This position requires working in a challenging offshore industrial environment on platforms or vessels.
- Strong ability to interpret coating specifications and technical documents.
- Excellent leadership skills to manage and motivate a team of coating applicators.
- Thorough knowledge of surface preparation methods (e.g., abrasive blasting) and coating application techniques.
- Knowledge of various coating systems, material data sheets, and quality control procedures.
