Global Peace Development (GPD) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in April 2002 and focuses on promoting peace for development in Nigeria. The organization envisions a country where peace and development is enjoyed by all. GPD seeks to build peace, gender equality, social justice, and foster democracy and governance at the community, local, state, and national levels.

Job Title: Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding Manager

Location: Damaturu, Yobe

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

  • The Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding Manager will provide leadership and technical guidance for GPD’s peacebuilding initiatives in Yobe State.
  • The role focuses on strengthening community-based peace structures, promoting social cohesion, and advancing strategies that prevent violent conflict and build resilient, inclusive communities.
  • This position requires strong leadership, program design and implementation skills, and the ability to engage government, donors, partners, and communities in building inclusive and peaceful societies.
  • In addition to programmatic responsibilities, the Manager will oversee the operations of GPD’s Yobe office, ensuring effective coordination, administration, and delivery of all activities within the state.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, planning, and implementation of conflict prevention and peacebuilding programs in Yobe State.
  • Strengthen community-based peace committees and support inclusive dialogue platforms.
  • Promote youth and women’s active participation in conflict resolution and peace processes.
  • Provide technical oversight, capacity-building, and mentorship to state project teams.
  • Ensure effective monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems to measure project impact.
  • Prepare quality reports, advocacy briefs, and program documentation for donors and partners.
  • Coordinate early warning and early response systems (EWER) in conflict-prone areas.
  • Build partnerships with government, civil society, and development actors to advance peacebuilding efforts.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Development Studies, Political Science, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of conflict dynamics in Northeast Nigeria, including community resilience strategies.
  • Proven experience in program management, stakeholder engagement, and donor reporting.
  • Excellent facilitation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in conflict prevention, peacebuilding, or related programming within NGOs, or development organizations.
