The organisation has vast experience managing, enhancing, and improving navigation opportunities for the country’s waterways.We are looking to recruit a contracts (Civil Works & Goods) and Claims Specialist to manage contracts related to civil works and goods procurement.This role is crucial to the success of a significant international euro-based project in Lagos State.Job ObjectiveThe objective of this position is to manage contracts related to civil works and goods procurement. Additionally, the specialist will negotiate terms and conditions, prepare contracts, evaluate bids, and manage claims and disputes that may arise during project execution.The specialist will work closely with project managers, legal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and effective claims resolution.Functional Responsibilities
- Develop and manage contracts according to the organisation’s long-term strategic plans, aligning them with its mission and vision.
- Draft, examine, and negotiate contracts to acquire products and civil works.
- Ensure every contract adheres to all applicable laws, rules, and corporate standards.
- Establish an extensive database of all current contracts and associated documentation.
- Keep track of contract efficiency and compliance and suggest remedial measures as appropriate.
- Manage and oversee all claims
- Evaluate and examine claims and disagreements arising from contract fulfilment.
- Collaborate with the project managers to get the documents and proof needed to support claims.
- Prepare and present claims to clients or contractors for further consideration and/or payment.
- Swiftly negotiate settlements and resolutions to claims and disagreements.
- Develop and execute profitable procurement proposals.
- Coordinate with customers to guarantee that the conditions of contracts are met in conformity with the terms and regulations
- Assess the possible risks connected to agreements and lawsuits, then develop plans for minimising them.
- Train and counsel project teams on claims procedures and contract management.
Regularly compile reports for management regarding the status of claims and contract performance. * Evaluate patterns in claims and recommend strategies for bettering contract procedures and lowering conflict.
- Serve as the main liaison with outside contracting representatives
- Research guidelines to ensure contracts are current and follow laws

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Law, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Certification in contract management.
- 15 years’ experience in contract management, particularly civil works and goods procurement.
- Strong understanding of FIDIC rules of contracts and international litigation
- Strong understanding of contract law and relevant regulations.
- Experience in claims management and dispute resolution.
- Proven work experience as a Contracts Specialist or similar role
