They possess a unique drive, underpinned by the desire to help improve Africa’s urban development.Job TitleDCC Clerk of WorksReporting LineDCC ManagerLocationAlaro CityStart DateImmediateIndicative RemunerationNegotiableRESPONSIBILITIES· Daily site inspections to ensure all development are carried out in accordance with DCC policies, procedures, and guidelines. Witnesses testing and quality control activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements· Assist in the daily DCC administration, planning, and appraisals· Ensure contractors onsite understand DCC policies, parcel plans, building development, and contractors’ code.· Carry out a thorough study of the drawings and specifications. Check for errors and discrepancies in the drawings and specifications and report to the DCC.· Conduct routine site visit to ensure strict adherence of submitted and approved development plans and quality workmanship.· Prepare detailed reports on any deviations in workmanship, construction activity or schedules together with appropriate recommendations· Ensure that Health and Safety issues that are reported or observed are adequately actioned by the appropriate contractors within the agreed timeframes· Prepare and submit detailed analytical reports as scheduled to provide decision-makers with reliable and accurate information on the status of ongoing projects.Health and Safety responsibilities:· Promote and develop a Safety Culture that secures effective implementation of policy, procedures, and responsibilities throughout the Alaro City operational delivery.· To ensure that the workplace is safe and compliant with company Health Safety and Environment guidelines as well as Directorate of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.· Conduct timely environmental health and safety audits, daily site walk downs, conduct safety toolbox talks and safety inductions as will be required.· To ensure preparation and implementation of the Site Environmental Safety and Health Management Plan.· Prepare daily safety and health reports or injury logs and ensure they are completed and submitted to relevant government agencies· Verify the adequacy and safety of all work-proposed tools and equipment· To continuously monitor and assess hazardous situations and recommend to the project team/management how to avoid or mitigate these risks.· To correct unsafe acts or conditions at respective sites through the regular line of authority, which includes issuing warnings, conducting investigations, taking disciplinary action and ensuring that all safety regulations are being followed.· Manage the arrangements for incident, accident and statutory inspections and enquiries, agreeing and implementing necessary changes· Perform any other tasks as assigned by the line manager or senior management.RequirementsHard skills and experience:· Undergraduate degree in relevant subjects, including civil and structural engineering, and building construction.· The person eligible for this role should have at least 5 years of experience in site inspector and EHS work in mixed-use real estate developments.· Demonstrate the ability to monitor a number of projects/applications simultaneously from inception to completionSoft skills:
