Purpose of the Role
- As an Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for executing maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and systems in compliance with APMT standards and local regulations.
- You will contribute to operational reliability, safety, and asset integrity, while sharing your knowledge and expertise within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance:
- Perform all electrical maintenance in line with APMT standards and local legislation.
- Oversee electrical isolations and lockouts, ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
- Participate in safety training and support incident investigations as needed.
Resource & Cost Management:
- Contribute to the procurement process by identifying technical requirements for spare parts.
- Ensure third-party contractors meet APMT’s quality and safety standards.
- Collaborate to optimise maintenance processes and reduce costs.
People & Communication:
- Share knowledge and mentor peers on best practices in electrical systems.
- Communicate effectively across departments and with external vendors.
Operational Performance:
- Supervise and execute daily electrical breakdown and planned maintenance tasks.
- Lead by example in adhering to safe systems of work, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
- Provide expert input into electrical fault diagnosis and repair work.
Strategy & Asset Integrity:
- Support Equipment Managers with insights on equipment failure trends and data analysis.
- Accurately record all maintenance and repair activities in the CMMS system.
- Work cross-functionally to maintain high equipment availability and cost-efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
- Academic qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with CMMS systems and OEM electrical training is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- A safety-first mindset with attention to detail and quality standards.
- Recognised local electrical installation/maintenance certification.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in a terminal or industrial setting.
