Purpose of the Role

  • As an Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for executing maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and systems in compliance with APMT standards and local regulations.
  • You will contribute to operational reliability, safety, and asset integrity, while sharing your knowledge and expertise within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance:

  • Perform all electrical maintenance in line with APMT standards and local legislation.
  • Oversee electrical isolations and lockouts, ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
  • Participate in safety training and support incident investigations as needed.

Resource & Cost Management:

  • Contribute to the procurement process by identifying technical requirements for spare parts.
  • Ensure third-party contractors meet APMT’s quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate to optimise maintenance processes and reduce costs.

People & Communication:

  • Share knowledge and mentor peers on best practices in electrical systems.
  • Communicate effectively across departments and with external vendors.

Operational Performance:

  • Supervise and execute daily electrical breakdown and planned maintenance tasks.
  • Lead by example in adhering to safe systems of work, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
  • Provide expert input into electrical fault diagnosis and repair work.

Strategy & Asset Integrity:

  • Support Equipment Managers with insights on equipment failure trends and data analysis.
  • Accurately record all maintenance and repair activities in the CMMS system.
  • Work cross-functionally to maintain high equipment availability and cost-efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Academic qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and OEM electrical training is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • A safety-first mindset with attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Recognised local electrical installation/maintenance certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in a terminal or industrial setting.
