Job Title: Engineeering Team Lead

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos

Job Description

  • We are currently recruiting a highly skilled Engineering Team Lead to drive efficiency and performance across our factory operations.
  • This role ensures steady utility supply, asset upkeep, and project execution, all while driving cost-efficiency and safety compliance to support seamless production.
  • This role reports to the Production Executive.

Responsibilities

The candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and efficient execution of preventive and corrective maintenance for all plant equipment, buildings, and roads.
  • Responsible for planning and executing scheduled maintenance activities, troubleshooting promptly, responding to equipment emergencies, and carrying out repairs and resolving faults.
  • Ensure availability of necessary tools and equipment for efficient execution of engineering tasks.
  • Identify training needs, implement development plans, and upskill team members to enhance technical and leadership capabilities.
  • Conduct performance reviews, optimize team structure, and support internal communication to maintain a high-performing department.
  • Drive a strong team culture by mentoring, disciplining where necessary, and maintaining a well-motivated and productive engineering workforce.
  • Plan and execute yearly overhauls of production and support equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor and maintain optimal spare parts stock levels, dispose of obsolete items, and ensure adherence to procurement procedures.
  • Manage and update engineering documentation (manuals, diagrams, PLC backups) and plant inventory in line with maintenance systems.
  • Develop the annual engineering budget and ensure expenditure aligns with planned costs through regular monitoring.
  • Enforce engineering standards and safety protocols during all technical operations and maintenance tasks.

Qualification & Experience

  • Candidates should possess a B.Sc. / HND in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable institution
  • Professional/postgraduate qualifications (e.g., NSE, COREN) are a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in a manufacturing industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory engineering role
  • Proven experience in engineering management, project management, and people leadership.
  • Proficiency in engineering tools (e.g., CAD), technical report writing, and continuous improvement practices.
