Job Position: Farm Manager
Job Location: Ado Ekiti, Ekiti
Job Description
- Analyze existing operations, crops, and staff and recommend improvements.
- Prepare plans and schedules for planting and harvesting, and ensure staff understand expectations.
- Ensure farm supervisors and officers are delivering their tasks.
- Visit different divisions to inspect crops and perform tests on the soil.
- Ensure seeds, fertilizer, pesticide, and other supplies are regularly stocked.
- Oversee all stages of crop cultivation, including land preparation, planting, weeding, fertilizing, and harvesting.
- Monitor crop growth and development, identifying and addressing any issues such as pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
- Implement best practices for crop cultivation, including appropriate spacing, pest and disease control measures, and soil management techniques.
- Manage and utilize farm resources efficiently, including land, water, fertilizers, and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of farm activities, including planting dates, harvesting yields, and input usage.
- Collect data on crop performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure produce quality by implementing quality control measures throughout the production process.
- Adhere to all farm safety regulations and environmental standards, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all farm workers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience in farm management, with a proven track record of success in cassava or similar crop production.
- Strong knowledge of modern farming techniques, including sustainable agriculture practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in relevant software and technology used in farm management.
- Familiarity with the agricultural landscape and regulatory environment in Nigeria.
