Job Title: Finance Officer

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Overview

  • We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Finance Officer to support our financial operations, reporting, and investment analysis.
  • The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with a strong background in core finance functions, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Experience or exposure to investment banking, corporate finance, or capital markets will be a strong asset.
  • This role requires someone who can operate at the intersection of financial integrity and strategic insight, ensuring accuracy in our books while supporting the business with data-backed financial decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting:

  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and ensure timely closing of books on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with IFRS and applicable local accounting standards.
  • Support the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring proper documentation.

Tax & Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure timely remittance and accurate filing of VAT, PAYE, WHT, and corporate taxes.
  • Maintain compliance with all CBN, FIRS, and other regulatory bodies’ requirements.
  • Prepare documentation and reports for financial regulators and internal control audits.

Investment & Financial Modelling (Preferred):

  • Assist with evaluating new investment opportunities, including financial modelling and due diligence.
  • Conduct ROI analysis on internal projects and capital deployment initiatives.
  • Support the preparation of investor presentations, board reports, and pitch decks (where applicable).

Budgeting & Financial Planning:

  • Participate in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts in collaboration with business units.
  • Monitor budget performance, provide variance analysis, and suggest corrective actions where necessary.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management:

  • Monitor cash flow positions, optimize liquidity, and prepare weekly/monthly cash flow reports.
  • Assist in managing relationships with banks, financial institutions, and payment partners.
  • Track loan repayments, fund placements, and interest income to ensure optimal fund utilization.

Internal Controls & Risk Management:

  • Maintain internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Conduct reconciliations (bank, vendor, GL accounts) and investigate discrepancies.
  • Identify financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Must be a Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Exposure to investment banking, financial modelling, or capital markets is a strong advantage.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities under pressure.
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or corporate finance.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and Nigerian tax and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
