Job Summary
- The Finance Officer plays a key role in the financial management of Reach-Out with Health Awareness Initiative (ROHAI).
- The ideal candidate will oversee financial planning, budget management, accounting operations, compliance, and reporting.
- The Finance Officer will work closely with the Executive Management, Program Team, and donors to ensure transparency, accountability, and accuracy in all financial matters.
- This position requires strong attention to detail, a solid grasp of accounting principles, and the ability to manage multiple financial tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting and finance operations including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Support the development of organizational and project budgets, ensuring alignment with funding requirements and donor expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and documentation.
- Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions and taxes.
- Support the development of financial policies and procedures.
- Liaise with banks, regulatory agencies, and other financial partners.
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with financial regulations and donor policies.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure timely disbursement of funds.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Professional certification such as ICAN or ACCA (part or full qualification) is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably in a nonprofit or development organization.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with donor-funded projects and reporting will be an added advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
- Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Technology Capability:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with online banking platforms
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis tools
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)
- Knowledge of audit processes and donor compliance standards
