Job Title: Finance Officer

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Finance Officer plays a key role in the financial management of Reach-Out with Health Awareness Initiative (ROHAI).
  • The ideal candidate will oversee financial planning, budget management, accounting operations, compliance, and reporting.
  • The Finance Officer will work closely with the Executive Management, Program Team, and donors to ensure transparency, accountability, and accuracy in all financial matters.
  • This position requires strong attention to detail, a solid grasp of accounting principles, and the ability to manage multiple financial tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting and finance operations including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Support the development of organizational and project budgets, ensuring alignment with funding requirements and donor expectations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and documentation.
  • Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions and taxes.
  • Support the development of financial policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with banks, regulatory agencies, and other financial partners.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with financial regulations and donor policies.
  • Monitor cash flow and ensure timely disbursement of funds.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Professional certification such as ICAN or ACCA (part or full qualification) is a strong advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably in a nonprofit or development organization.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with donor-funded projects and reporting will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Technology Capability:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with online banking platforms
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis tools
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)
  • Knowledge of audit processes and donor compliance standards
