Job description: Job Description:Our ClientOur client, an electronics company, seeks to employ a financial controller.Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present *monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and Nigerian GAAP.
  • Ensure adherence to FIRS tax regulations, VAT, WHT, and state tax obligations.
  • Manage statutory audits and liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies(FRC, CAC).
  • Implement strong internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure financial integrity.
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including **costing, valuation (FIFO/WAC), and write-offs* for consumer electronics.
  • Monitor stock levels, turnover ratios, and obsolescence risks to optimize working capital.
  • Work with procurement and logistics teams to *track import duties, landed costs, and supplier pricing.
  • Ensure accurate *month-end inventory reconciliation between physical stock and financial records.
  • Analyze gross margins by product line and recommend pricing or cost-saving adjustments.
  • Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models tailored to Nigeria’s market conditions.
  • Analyze product profitability, pricing strategies, and sales performance across retail and distribution channels.
  • Advise management on cost reduction, funding options, and investment decisions.
  • Evaluate local supplier contracts, import duties, and logistics costs for efficiency.
  • Manage and mentor the finance, accounting, and inventory control teams in Nigeria.
  • Improve financial and inventory processes through ERP system enhancements (e.g., Zoho Books,Zoho Inventory, SAP, QuickBooks,)
  • Collaborate with sales, procurement, and warehouse teams to align stock planning with financial goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Economics; ICAN/ACCA certification required.
  • 7+ years in accounting/finance, with 3+ years as a Financial Controller in Nigeria.
  • Experience in consumer electronics, retail, or manufacturing with inventory oversight is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian GAAP, and tax laws (CITA, VAT, PAYE, WHT).
  • Expertise in inventory accounting, COGS analysis, and supply chain finance.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Zoho One, Sage, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics) with inventory modules.
  • Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) for inventory forecasting and cost analysis.
