Job Title: Head, Finance & Accounts

Location: Lagos

Job Description

The Head, Finance & Accounts will oversee all accounting operations of JC International, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning. This is a leadership position responsible for guiding the accounts team to maintain financial integrity, optimize resource allocation, and provide actionable insights to support decision-making and drive business growth.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation, accuracy, and timely delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with applicable standards.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of all financial transactions.
  • Prepare and present financial analysis, forecasts, and performance reports to management for informed decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with departmental heads.
  • Track budget implementation, review variances, and recommend corrective measures.
  • Implement cost optimization initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure timely filing of tax returns and payment of statutory obligations (FIRS, LIRS, Pension, NHF, etc.).
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring prompt resolution of findings.
  • Maintain compliance with all financial regulations and company policies.
  • Manage cash flow, banking operations, and relationships with financial institutions
  • Monitor working capital to ensure adequate liquidity for operations and projects
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and advise management on funding strategies
  • Oversee the effective use of accounting software and ERP systems for accurate reporting and analytics.

Requirements

  • BSC/HND in Accounting, Finance,
  • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior management role.
  • Proven track record in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Exceptional leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
