Job description: Job Description:Location: Port HarcourtReport to: Head Project Management OfficeAbout Company: Our client is a leading Civil Engineering and Construction firm in Nigeria.The company is seeking to hire an experienced Head of Engineering who will be responsible for the management of the engineering processes to deliver effective and efficient engineering solutions of value. S/he shall manage the technical team providing both back-end and front-end engineering design solutions for all fields in Engineering, e.g., Civil/Structural design, Mechanical design, Electrical design, and ELV design.This is a supervisory role within the Project Management Office; the role requires the development of engineering strategies for projects, working with other members of the PMO Unit and Operations Department. Please note that while the job is location-based, it also necessitates site visits to project locations for data harvesting and feedbackKey Responsibilities:§ Review existing engineering strategies on various projects alongside other members of the Operations department.§ Where engineering strategies are nonexistent, S/he shall be responsible for developing such strategies for projects.§ S/he shall populate the engineering team based on the approved strategy for internal or external design personnel.§ The Head of Engineering shall be responsible for developing and managing the project’s Master Design Register.§ S/he shall be responsible for developing, monitoring, and reporting engineering manhours for members of the engineering team.§ S/he shall be responsible for arranging engineering design deliverables to support early procurement activities.§ S/he shall be responsible for all interdisciplinary coordination between members of the engineering team, which may include internal and external resources within the engineering team.§ S/he shall be responsible for liaising with the Cost Control Lead in developing and utilizing the material specifications database, in design for the purpose of aligning tender cost with execution cost.§ The Head of Engineering shall be responsible for aligning with the Project Control lead/Senior Planner in providing prompt engineering solutions to activities on the critical path.§ S/he shall be responsible for the value engineering proposal for engineering solutions provided that are above the tender considerations.§ S/he shall be responsible for developing the training needs of their team members.§ S/he shall be responsible for the management of the engineering stakeholders with the Client team.§ The Head of Engineering shall be responsible for writing and developing specific engineering plans for each tender and project.Requirements§ Bachelor’s degree in the engineering field, degree in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred§ A master’s degree in engineering management, technical management, or business administration may be an added advantage§ Any project management certification may be an advantage.§ COREN Registration is mandatory.§ A minimum of 10 years of hands-on engineering design, 5 years in a supervisory or management position, total of 15 years’ experience.§ Working knowledge of engineering practices and procedures in the oil and gas industry would be an advantage.§ Proven supervisory and technical skills.§ Must be emotionally intelligent.§ Must have hands-on working knowledge of most structural and civil engineering design tools, and must have working knowledge of the Microsoft suite.§ Must be technologically proficient with the following tools – STAAD PRO, PROKON, TEKLA, AUTOCAD, SAP2000, AUTODESK REVITS, PROTA, POWER BI§ Must understand and practice the development of subordinate engineers and interns.Behavioral Competencies§ High attention to detail§ Problem-solving and analytical skills, combined with good business judgment§ Ability to work with little or no supervision.§ Determined work ethic and must be seen to be professional at all times (communication and presentation)BenefitsCompensation: Basic Pay is N1,500,000 Monthly + other interesting benefits
