- The Operations role in the fintech industry is responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day running of financial and non-financial transactions, process efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- The position involves coordinating transaction processing, reconciliations, settlements, and operational risk management, while supporting the scaling of fintech products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily transaction processing across payments, transfers, wallets, and other fintech platforms.
- Ensure accurate and timely reconciliations of customer accounts, partner accounts, and internal records.
- Support settlements with banks, payment processors, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor transaction flows to identify failures, delays, fraud attempts, or anomalies, and resolve issues promptly.
- Work with compliance and risk teams to ensure KYC, AML, and regulatory requirements are met.
- Develop, document, and improve operational processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Coordinate with technical support, product, and finance teams to resolve operational bottlenecks.
- Manage and track disputes, chargebacks, reversals, and refunds within agreed timelines.
- Support automation initiatives to improve process efficiency and reduce operational risks.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance and risk reports for management.
- Assist in onboarding new partners, merchants, and agents while ensuring operational readiness.
- Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal and external stakeholders.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in operations within fintech, banking, or payment services.
- Strong knowledge of payment systems, settlements, reconciliations, and digital financial products.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (CBN, PCI-DSS, AML/KYC standards, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and experience with reconciliation tools or ERP/fintech platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational, teamwork, and communication skills.
