DRC Nigeria is the largest DRC country mission in the West Africa region and one of the largest DRC country missions globally. Currently, DRC delivers life-saving assistance and protection to vulnerable, conflict-affected populations including internally displaced persons, returnees, and host communities in the areas of armed violence reduction, humanitarian mine action, livelihoods, nutrition and food security, protection, shelter and non-food items (NFI) and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in 30+ Local Government Areas (LGAs) across Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states in northeast Nigeria.Operational ContextThis position is funded by FCDO and deployed by DRC to the sector. Under the overall supervision of the UNHCR Protection Sector Coordinator and with support from DRC PIM Specialist and Protection Coordinator, the Information Management Officer will provide information management support to the Protection Sector in Northeast Nigeria, specifically aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the sector’s response and providing support to AoRs, and workstreams part of the Information Management Working Group (IAWG).Timely and accurate information is critical to successful coordination of humanitarian action. The Information Management Officer is responsible for assisting in the production and dissemination of information within the Protection Sector in Maiduguri and with protection coordination working groups in Yobe and Adamawa, as well as with AoRs in NE Nigeria, and to facilitate delivery and monitoring of assistance, undertake gap analysis and determine priorities. If requires, he can also liaise with the PIM officers of DRC in the NE and in the NW and with the PIM Specialist at country level to ensure harmonization of data across humanitarian actors including to build up the North West capacities relying on DRC and its partners’capacities there.The Information Management Officer operationalizes data standards developed at global level and trains secor partners as needed and compiles data and analyses information relevant to the Global Protection Cluster. S/he also supports the sector coordination team and sector partners on an hoc basis, such as supporting the choosing of indicators, analysis, methodology of calculating severity, PiN and targets for the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plans (HNRP). The Information Management Officer will also support the maintenance of the information systems for the management of data collected through the Protection Monitoring network of the Protection Sector in Northeast Nigeria.Aim of the MissionThis deployment is critical to Protection Sector Northeast Nigeria during the HPC 2025 and early 2026. The IMO’s mission will be first: to provide technical support to the Protection Sector and coordination structure including the Areas of Responsibility Housing, Land and Property, (HLP). The IMO will liaise with IMOs in charge of the AORs for Child Protection. Gender-based violence and Mine Action, in particular to ensure a consistent use of Activity Info and a joint approach to other information requirements. The IMO will be tasked with providing technical advice and support in the collection, compilation, and analysis of data/information needs among protection sector partners. The selected candidate will work closely with The Global Protection Cluster, the OCHA Information Management Working Group, and Protection Sector coordinator and co-coordinators, AoRs coordinators/ IMOs, to ensure Protection needs and response analysis are supported by credible data/information.Mission OBJECTIVEs
