Job Description
- At onfleekQ, we’re building Africa’s leading on-demand beauty services platform—and with innovation comes responsibility. We’re looking for a Legal & Compliance Officer to help us stay ahead of regulatory, data protection, and legal requirements as we scale.
Key Responsibilities
Legal & Regulatory Compliance:
- Serve as Data Protection Officer (DPO) per NDPA 2023 & NDPR guidelines.
- Manage RoPA (Records of Processing Activities), privacy notices, and consent protocols for user data.
- Draft and update Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, vendor agreements, and other legal contracts.
- Monitor changes in tech law, employment law, advertising, and consumer protection regulations.
- Handle regulatory correspondences from NDPC, NCC, CAC, FIRS, and other bodies.
Statutory Filings & Corporate Compliance:
- Ensure timely annual returns and Board resolutions filing with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
- Ensure compliance with employee contracts, labour law, and disciplinary procedures.
- Maintain and advise on company Intellectual Property (IP) rights—especially brand/trademark registration.
- Coordinate SCUML registration and ensure compliance for financial transactions.
- Liaise with tax consultants on FIRS, PAYE, and VAT filings for the company.
Arbitration, Escalations & Dispute Resolution:
- Lead vendor-customer dispute mediation and develop ADR processes.
- Draft arbitration clauses and serve as first legal contact for escalated complaints and third-party claims.
- Respond to demand letters, legal notices, and contract breaches.
- Coordinate internal investigations when user disputes arise or terms are violated.
Law Enforcement, SOS & Content Liability:
- Coordinate with Nigeria Police Force, DSS, and relevant authorities for lawful disclosure of user data.
- Maintain protocols for handling data access requests, user takedown notices, and regulatory audits.
- Respond to formal requests for digital evidence during criminal investigations or civil proceedings.
- Ensure compliance when processing SOS video or audio content, including consent, storage, and evidentiary use.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) & Barrister at Law (B.L.) required; LLM and data protection certification is an advantage.
- Demonstrated understanding of Nigerian data protection laws (NDPA, NDPR) and CAC regulations.
- Proven experience in dispute mediation, contract drafting, and legal research.
- Familiarity with startup dynamics, mobile platforms, and digital consumer rights law.
- Must be Called to Bar.
- Minimum of 3–5 years post-call experience in tech law, regulatory compliance, or corporate legal advisory.
Salary
N220,000 / Month
