Job Title: Legal Manager

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Role Overview

  • The Legal Manager will provide expert legal and regulatory support to the organization, focusing on finance-related transactions, corporate governance, and compliance.
  • The role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to partner with cross-functional teams to manage risks, ensure compliance, and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advisory support on financial transactions, lending structures, and investment arrangements.
  • Interpret and advise on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards affecting corporate finance, governance, and compliance.
  • Support internal audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws, regulatory changes, and emerging trends relevant to the company’s operations.
  • Liaise with external counsel, regulators, and third parties to represent the company’s legal interests.
  • Support the GM, Legal & Compliance in strategic initiatives and departmental deliverables.
  • Engage in policy advocacy by analyzing regulatory developments, drafting position papers, and representing the organization at industry forums, consultations, and legislative processes.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including financing agreements, service-level agreements, and governance policies.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations across the business.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain corporate governance and compliance frameworks, policies, and awareness programs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify, assess, and manage legal and regulatory risks.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Qualification: LL.B, BL (Master’s degree is an added advantage)
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven experience in corporate governance and compliance management.
  • Professional, interpersonal, and communication skills to effectively engage stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience Required: Minimum 9 years post-call legal experience, including at least 6 years in finance-related transactions, corporate governance, and compliance.
  • Strong legal drafting and writing skills.

Salary

Salary: N700,000 – N900,000 monthly (Competitive / Negotiable).
