Job Summary
- The General Manager will oversee the Oil Field and Supply Services Business Unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality equipment, products and services to clients in the oil and gas industry.
- This role involves managing supply chain operations, OEM representations, installation and maintenance of equipment, commissioning and decommissioning, and leading a team of professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development: Develop and execute strategies to grow the strategic business unit, increase revenue, and expand market share.
- Supply Chain Management: Manage supply chain operations, including procurement, shipping coordination, expediting and logistics.
- OEM Representations: Foster and maintain relationships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure timely delivery of high-quality technical equipment and products.
- Installation and Maintenance: Oversee the installation and maintenance of equipment, ensuring that work is completed safely, on time, and to client satisfaction.
- Clearly define objectives and targets: Present company’s objectives and targets, and explain the benefits of a long-term partnership.
- Use data and analytics: Provide data on company’s purchase history and future projections to demonstrate the value of a long-term agreement.
- Secure a long-term supplier’s agreement with key equipment suppliers at a competitive price.
- Build strong relationship with clients, OEM’s and Equipment suppliers on long-term partnerships and repeat businesses.
- Adopt effective negotiation to gain competitive advantage by securing favourable terms and conditions with clients.
- Secure improved profitability for the company through effective negotiation for better pricing with OEMs and explore ways of reduced costs to ensure profitability.
- Commissioning and Decommissioning: Manage commissioning and decommissioning activities, ensuring that work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Team Management: Lead and develop a team of professionals, including supply chain, operations, and technical staff.
- Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring that their needs are met and exceeded.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all operations are conducted safely and in compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Build rapport and establish trust: Start with a positive tone and build a relationship with the supplier’s representative.
Requirements
- Education: A good University degree in Engineering or the Sciences plus Business Education such as MBA or MSc Economics or Accounting professional qualifications.
- Experience: Proven experience in oil field services, supply chain management, or a related industry.
- Business Acumen: Strong business acumen, with the ability to develop and execute strategies to drive business growth.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the oil and gas industry, including trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Technical Expertise: Understanding of technical aspects of oil and gas field operations and equipment.
- Risk Management: Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with oil and gas field operations and supply chain management.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of oil field equipment and operations.
- Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, OEMs, and internal stakeholders.

- Equipment Supplies: Optimize products order arrangement and minimize waste through effective delivery management.
- Supplier Performance: Evaluate and improve supplier performance through regular assessments and scorecards.
- Lead Time Reduction: Reduce lead times for equipment and supplies through efficient logistics and supply chain management.
Customer Satisfaction KPIs:
- Client Satisfaction Surveys: Achieve high client satisfaction ratings through surveys or feedback mechanisms.
- Client and OEM Retention: Maintain a high client and OEM retention rate through excellent service and relationship-building.
- Referrals and Recommendations: Encourage clients to refer the company to other potential customers.
Financial KPIs:
- Revenue Growth: Increase revenue from oil field services and supply chain management.
