Job Title: Material Inspector
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
About the Role
- We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Material Inspector to join our Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) team.
- As part of a leading EPC company, you will be responsible for ensuring that all incoming materials comply with project specifications, codes, and quality standards before they are accepted for use.
- This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity, reliability, and safety of our engineering and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and verify the quality and specifications of incoming materials, equipment, and components.
- Review Material Test Certificates (MTCs), Mill Certificates, and other related documentation for compliance with project and industry standards.
- Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actions.
- Maintain proper records and inspection logs for traceability and audits.
- Ensure compliance with international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, ISO).
- Assist in internal and third-party audits as required.
- Conduct visual inspections, dimensional checks, and identify any non-conformities.
- Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and engineering teams to ensure proper material handling and traceability.
- Monitor material storage and preservation conditions in line with project.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline).
- Proven experience as a Material Inspector in an EPC or large-scale industrial project environment.
- Certification in relevant QA/QC fields (e.g., CSWIP, NACE, API, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) is an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Strong knowledge of quality control procedures, material specifications, and industry codes.
- Familiarity with QA/QC documentation and systems (e.g., ITPs, MTCs, inspection reports).
