Vagan Oil & Gas Limited is a Nigerian Private Limited Liability Company registered under the Companies Act of 1990, in line with the policies of the Nigerian service provision. The company’s core area of operation is to provide a broad spectrum of services ranging from Engineering, Pipeline & Flowline Construction / Repairs, Facility piping and maintenance, Wellhead & Christmas tree maintenance and servicing, Composite wrap technology, Equipment & Offshore/Marine Supplies, etc.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Forcados Terminal

Location: Lagos

Employment Type: Full Time

Age: < 55 years

Start Date: 1st October 2025

Job Risk Assessments / Permit to Work preparation

  • Make sound technical and safety decisions during equipment failure and emergencies
  • Identifying critical spares and follow-up ordering and delivery.
  • Work closely with service Contractor(s) towards the safe delivery of vendor-based maintenance jobs.
  • Engage effectively with external parties and regulators.
  • Flange breaks, positive isolation, vessel de-sanding activities
  • Promotes site safety and continuous hazard identification, mitigation and close-out.
  • Other assignments for continuous improvements as exigent

Requirements

Academics:

  • Trade Cert (IVQ)/B.Eng./HND/OND

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 – 12 years working experience as a Mechanical technician in an oil and gas producing field location.

Key Skills:

  • Disassemble/Assemble and Maintain Rotating and static equipment, Compressors, and turbines.
  • Experience in Alignment, Vibration analysis and balancing
  • Experience in Solar turbine maintenance
  • Experience in Caterpillar Engines D3406, D3512, D3516
  • Experience in Sulzer pumps and Flender gear systems.
  • Experience in Equipment Condition monitoring
  • Experience in Mechanical System maintenance
  • Skill in Equipment troubleshooting and fault analysis
  • Basic workshop machinery and welding machine use, and effective supervision.
  • Failure analysis and technical report
  • Experience in Atlas Copco SF11 and mobile Air compressors
  • Experience in valve maintenance, flange management and Leak detection.
  • Experience in Pump Fluid-end inspections and driver/gear alignments.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Soft Skills (Added advantage):

  • Computer literate (Competent user of Microsoft Office and ability to liaise with programs)
  • Knowledge and use of the SAP tool
  • Knowledge of worksite hazard management (Identifying and mitigating hazards proactively
  • Ability to multitask effectively
  • Good Communication (Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders) skills, and to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Active listening and feedback handling
  • Effective supervision and coaching
  • Ability to diagnose rotating equipment and mechanical systems failure under pressure with resilience

  • Technical/Leadership Skills
  • The Mechanical Support supervisor will be responsible for the following:
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team (Welders, technicians, Scaffolders etc.) to deliver simple and complex activities in FOT.
  • Asset Care routine to ensure PM/CM is closed out and the Integrity of the Asset is maintained.
  • Work preparations and material staging for work executions
  • Routine machinery and equipment servicing
  • Daily parameter logging, records, and mechanical lubricants management.
  • Routine fabrication using welding tools and materials.
  • Machining activities: lathe, grinding, drilling, dicing, etc.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress and ensure timely completion of mechanical activities.
  • Ability to negotiate, address interpersonal and technical conflict within the team constructively.
  • Interpretation of machine and equipment maintenance manuals, technical drawings, and diagnosis.
  • Repair, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems, static and rotating equipment.
  • Use of diagnostic tools and mechanical hand tools for fault tracing, vibration detection and activity executions.
