Lafiya Nigeria or Lafiya)<span class=\"br\"><\/span>is a global health non-profit organisation that offers an innovative and highly cost-effective solution to provide universal access to contraception. We work with female health professionals (Lafiya Sisters) to spread awareness of the benefits of family planning in their local communities and provide last-mile delivery of contraception. We operate in hard-to-reach communities that otherwise do not have access to contraceptive products and information. We currently run our core programme across four states in northern Nigeria, managing 280 Lafiya Sisters. In addition to our direct community work, we are building our own supply chain to address widespread supply challenges in Nigeria and are partnering with government stakeholders to realise sustainable financing models for the procurement of contraception. We highly encourage women candidates to apply.<span class=\"br\"><\/span><b>Position Overview<\/b><span class=\"br\"><\/span>The Finance &#038; Compliance Officer safeguards the organisation\u2019s resources by delivering robust financial management, ensuring full compliance with Nigerian laws and internal policies, driving risk\u2011management efforts, and providing targeted administrative support that keeps the office running smoothly.<span class=\"br\"><\/span><b>Responsibilities<\/b><span class=\"br\"><\/span>Finance <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain accurate, timely records of all daily financial transactions in the organisation\u2019s cloud-based financial system (a combination of tools including Xero and Airtable).<\/li>\n<li>Process supplier invoices, staff reimbursements and per\u2011diem requests; prepare payment batches for approval.<\/li>\n<li>Issue monthly payroll for Nigeria\u2011based staff in accordance with schedules from Programme Officers; calculate statutory deductions, withhold and remit PAYE, pension, NSITF, ITF, NHF and any other compulsory payments to the relevant Nigerian authorities.<\/li>\n<li>Reconcile bank, mobile\u2011money and petty\u2011cash accounts weekly; investigate and resolve variances.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure receipts and payment documents are up-to-date and attached to any transaction.<\/li>\n<li>Update internal dashboards and trackers with current financial data, and prepare monthly management accounts and cash\u2011flow forecasts.<\/li>\n<li>Manage restricted and unrestricted grant budgets, maintain grant\u2011tracking tools, and prepare donor\u2011specific financial reports, reconciliations and variance analyses in full compliance with each award\u2019s terms.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with annual budgeting and quarterly re\u2011forecasting.<\/li>\n<li>Thoroughly understand compliance requirements with Nigerian regulations and support external audits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  Compliance &#038; Risk <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monitor internal controls and verification checks on expenditure and procurement.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure adherence to all applicable Nigerian regulations (FIRS taxes, PENCOM, NSITF, ITF, NHF, CAC\/Incorporated Trustee requirements) and the organisation\u2019s internal finance and anti\u2011fraud policies.<\/li>\n<li>Be familiar with donor and partner agreements to proactively identify instances of possible breaches with agreements\u2019 conditions and expectations.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct periodic internal reviews and spot checks; investigate any compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare and submit compliance reports to management or other stakeholders, as needed<\/li>\n<li>Deliver or coordinate regular training and communications to build staff awareness of compliance obligations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  Administration <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage inventory of office supplies and certain program assets (e.g. laptops, mobile phones); coordinate procurement and maintenance.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain organised digital and physical filing systems; keep organisational databases current.<\/li>\n<li>Act as first point of contact for staff queries on finance &#038; admin procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange purchases (e.g. flights, accommodation, workshop venues) in line with procurement policy, negotiating with local suppliers to secure best value for money.<\/li>\n<li>Receive, distribute and archive incoming\/outgoing correspondence (letters, emails, packages).<\/li>\n<li>Perform other ad\u2011hoc tasks assigned by management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  <b>Who are we looking for?<\/b><span class=\"br\"><\/span><b>Education and Experience<\/b> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field<\/li>\n<li>\u22653 years in a similar role; experience in NGO or donor\u2011funded projects advantageous<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  <b>Skills<\/b> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sound knowledge of Nigerian accounting standards, Nigerian tax and employment regulations, compliance requirements as they pertain to NGOs and Incorporated Trustee entities.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with Google Workspace (especially Google Sheets), Xero accounting software, Airtable, Slack and online-based payment processing systems (e.g. VertoFX).<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical and numerical ability;
