Procurement Manager
Job Description
- Devise and implement effective procurement and sourcing strategies
- Discover profitable suppliers and initiate procurement partnerships
- Act as a point of contact between the company and suppliers
- Identify potential suppliers based on project requirements
- Build long-term relationships with vendors in the industry.
- Process purchase orders to acquire goods
- Compare quotes for price and specifications.
- Negotiate costs of supplies with vendors to reduce costs and secure advantageous terms
- Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations of goods and vendor pricing
- Manage an efficient flow of goods to ensure optimum production
- Work closely with the inventory department to ensure smooth flow of production processes.
Requirements and skills
- First degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration
- Proven working experience as a Procurement Manager, Procurement Officer or Head of Procurement
- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in “reading” the market
- Strong understanding of procurement and negotiation techniques
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Good knowledge of supplier or third party management software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).
- Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
- Experience in collecting and analyzing data
- Strong leadership capabilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of the industry and market conditions
- Able to work overtime as may be required
