Job description: Company DescriptionCo-creation HUB is the leading pan-African creative and innovation ecosystem enabler. In 2010, we started out as Nigeria’s premier innovation center dedicated to accelerating the application of social capital and technology for economic prosperity in Nigeria. We have since grown our physical presence to five cities (Lagos, Abuja, Kigali, Nairobi and Windhoek) across Africa and we work closely with stakeholders – including entrepreneurs, civil society organizations, government, and private sector – to identify and nurture novel solutions to social challenges in Africa.In 2017, Co-Creation HUB launched Growth Capital in partnership with Omidyar Network, Bank of Industry, and Venture Garden Group to provide early-stage funding for startups driving social change. In February 2019, Co-creation HUB opened a Design Lab in Kigali, Rwanda focused on Research and Development and Human Centered Design to enable innovation for social impact. Our Kigali Centre collaborates with global stakeholders to explore the application of technology to solve Africa’s systemic problems in education, public health, education, governance and our other areas of work. In September 2019, we expanded our footprint by acquiring iHUB in Nairobi, Kenya, strengthening our commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and innovators across the continent. In 2020, we launched CcHUB Syndicate, an investment vehicle designed to improve capital access for startups and bridge the funding gap in Africa’s innovation ecosystem. In 2021, we established the Creative Economy Practice to drive the growth of Africa’s creative economy through innovation and technology application. In 2023, we further expanded our presence by opening Co-creation HUB in Windhoek, Namibia. These expansions have been intentional in contributing to our vision to be Africa’s leading pan-African creative and innovation ecosystem enabler.Since its establishment, CcHUB has supported the development and launch of more than 10,000 innovative technology companies solving social challenges across Africa in areas including budget transparency, agtech, education, fintech, healthcare delivery, creative economy and sustainability.Job DescriptionThe Design for Health (DFH) practice at Co-Creation Hub is dedicated to leveraging innovation to improve health outcomes across Africa. We design and scale solutions that address critical health challenges while fostering a thriving ecosystem of health tech innovation. Through the application of design thinking, DFH collaborates with diverse stakeholders to develop human-centred, impactful solutions that empower communities and meet their health needs. By combining public health expertise with cutting-edge technology and design, DFH is committed to improving health outcomes across the continent.This is achieved through four key functions:Fostering health tech start-upsBuilding Human-Centred Design (HCD) capacity and delivering HCD-driven projectsConducting high-quality researchFacilitating a thriving community of practice and advancing relevant researchJob PurposeWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Programme Manager to join our team at the Design for Health practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the implementation of health innovation programmes, ensuring they align with our mission to transform Africa’s health systems through design thinking and technological solutions. This role requires a dynamic leader who is passionate about health innovation and capable of driving impactful programmes across diverse stakeholders and sectors.Key ResponsibilitiesProgramme Leadership & ManagementOversee the design, development, and implementation of health innovation programmes and other initiatives within the DFH practice.Ensure that all programmes align with the overall strategic objectives of the practice.Develop and maintain project management documentation, including work plans, and ensure effective implementation.Manage the day-to-day operations of programme delivery, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure successful programme outcomes.Stakeholder Engagement & CommunicationBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including health sector leaders, NGOs, government agencies, and funding partners.Coordinate effectively with internal teams such as community, communications, start-up support, investment, and others to ensure efficient programme delivery.Serve as the main point of contact for key stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent communication throughout the programme lifecycle.Represent the DFH practice at relevant meetings, workshops, and forums.Monitoring, Evaluation & ReportingSupport the finalisation and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess programme success and impact.Assist in developing performance metrics for DFH programmes.Conduct data analysis and present findings in a clear, actionable manner.Track progress against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and fulfil reporting obligations to funding agencies and stakeholders.Measure, report, and optimise programme outcomes and impact.Collaborate with the Communications team to develop engaging and impactful content that highlights DFH programmes and success stories (e.g. programme highlights, interviews, community spotlights, thought leadership content, etc.).Innovation & Strategic DevelopmentStay abreast of industry trends, technological developments, and policy changes that influence health innovation and design.Contribute to the ideation and development of new programme initiatives and strategic approaches to drive innovation.Promote a culture of innovation, creativity, and continuous learning within the programme teams.Team Management & Capacity BuildingLead and mentor a team of programme officers, interns, and volunteers.Provide professional development opportunities, support, and guidance to team members.Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that values diversity and shared learning.Research, Academic Writing & Thought LeadershipLead and contribute to research efforts that inform the design, execution, and scaling of health innovation programmes.Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to produce articles, reports, and publications that position DFH as a thought leader in health tech and innovation.Stay informed on the latest research in public health, innovation, and technology to guide programme development and influence policy.New Opportunities & Strategic PartnershipsSupport the identification of new funding sources, business opportunities, and strategic partnerships to expand DFH’s impact.Lead or contribute to the preparation of proposals, grant applications, and concept notes.Assist the Practice Lead in developing business development strategies in line with DFH’s goals.Conduct effective stakeholder mapping to identify and engage potential donors, collaborators, and partners, enhancing DFH’s visibility and sustainability.Contribute to the conceptualisation and design of new programmes aligned with emerging health needs.QualificationsEducation:A master’s degree in public health, business administration, innovation management, or a related field is preferred.Experience:A minimum of 5 years of experience in project and program management, preferably in health, innovation, or technology-focused sectors.Strong understanding of health systems in Africa and health tech innovationProven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders and deliver on objectives.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.Passionate about technology, startups, innovation, with an understanding of the technology ecosystemStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Experience in monitoring and evaluation, with the ability to measure program impact.Proficiency in project management tools, Microsoft and Google Suite.Certification in project management is an added advantageStrong proposal writing, business development and stakeholder
