They are dedicated to promoting humane & orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services, advice to governments & migrants.
- Nigeria has witnessed an increase in violence since the beginning of 2015, causing a major humanitarian crisis. Our client & the humanitarian community have expanded their scope of intervention beyond Maiduguri itself, to the entire north east & northwest, into priority satellite sites where their staff are delivering humanitarian & development support to displaced populations & host communities.
- Our client plays a significant role in Katsina, Nigeria, through its Conflict Prevention, Crisis Response & Resilience (CPCRR) program. This initiative, led by our client in partnership with Mercy Corps Netherlands (MCN) & the Centre for Democracy & Development (CDD), aims to address the complex challenges faced by conflict affected communities in northwest Nigeria.
- The CPCRR program focuses on promoting long term stability by addressing the root causes of conflict, enhancing community resilience & fostering socio economic development in 48 communities across 10 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Katsina & Zamfara states.
- Through integrated efforts, the CPCRR program aims to foster conflict prevention, crisis response & resilience in conflict affected communities, contributing to long term peace & socio economic development in northwest Nigeria.
- Our clients presence in Katsina is further reinforced by its operational sub office, which facilitates key meetings with officials & staff to support the program’s implementation. The organization collaborates closely with local leaders, Civil Society Organizations (CSO’s) & government authorities to ensure the success of its initiatives.
- Working under the overall supervision of Chief of Mission & the direct supervision of the Head of Office in Katsina, with technical guidance of the Program Officer Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) as an additional supervisor, the Project Assistant will be responsible for implementing & managing field activities related to DTM operational activities.
Role objectivesS / he will coordinate, in close collaboration with the partners in the field, the data collection process & analysis in the region s / he has been assigned to:
- Plan, coordinate & implement strategies to collect, analyse & disseminate data on Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s) in close collaboration with the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) & other relevant partners on the field.
- Provide training & support to relevant partners on data collection & analysis based on the DTM’s methodology & tools.
- Monitor & evaluate the DTM operations, identifying areas of improvement & enhanced efficiency.
- Be responsible for all administrative arrangements in the field, including payment of staff, review, adjustment, endorsement of bills & invoices.
- Be responsible for sending the information collected on the field in a timely manner, according to the standards & requirements of the DTM program.
- Keep abreast of all stakeholders, interagency assessments, reports & relevant material related to IDP’s.
- Prepare a narrative report regarding the implementation of activities on a weekly basis.
- Represent the DTM program in all meetings & events organized at the local level.
- Build the capacity of our clients staff involved in DTM activities.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Project reporting

Key competencies
- University degree / diploma in humanitarian, political or social science or related field.
- Minimum of four years’ experience (two years for degree holders) in a related field.
- Experience in statistical tools, reporting & liaising with government authorities preferably within the international humanitarian field.
- Must be fluent in English & working knowledge of one or more languages spoken in the Katsina & Zamfara states is required.

- Inter personal skills & very sociable disposition stemming from proven experience.
Team management
- This role has no team management responsibility.
