Job Title: Project Manager – Metering & Renewable Energy
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Job Summary
- Turbo Energy is seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager with a strong background in electrical engineering, renewable energy, and metering solutions to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple energy projects across Nigeria.
- The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, a strong grasp of project management methodologies, and a proven ability to deliver results in the power and energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
- Lead end-to-end execution of renewable energy and metering projects, including solar installations, smart meter rollouts, and energy infrastructure upgrades.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
- Monitor progress, ensure adherence to timelines, and resolve project delays and risks effectively.
- Prepare and deliver regular project updates to internal and external stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management:
- Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, vendors, clients, and project partners to ensure smooth implementation.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements, standards, and contracts.
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams for timely delivery of equipment and materials.
Technical Oversight:
- Review technical designs, drawings, and specifications related to renewable energy systems and metering infrastructure.
- Coordinate site surveys, feasibility studies, and energy audits as needed.
- Supervise technical teams and contractors to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained.
- Support commissioning, testing, and handover processes.
Team Leadership:
- Manage a cross-functional team of engineers, technicians, and subcontractors to ensure successful delivery.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the project team.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and performance monitoring for junior team members.
Financial & Contract Management:
- Track project expenditures and variances, ensuring optimal use of financial resources.
- Contribute to bid preparation, BOQs, contract negotiations, and vendor selection.
- Ensure projects are delivered within agreed margins and profitability targets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s degree or MBA is a plus).
- Proven experience managing EPC projects, metering infrastructure deployments, or hybrid solar systems.
- Solid knowledge of NERC regulations, DISCO engagement protocols, and renewable energy standards in Nigeria.
- 5–8 years of experience in project management within the energy sector, specifically in renewable energy and metering projects.
- Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is strongly preferred.
Key Competencies & Skills:
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, and other project tools/software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Excellent understanding of electrical systems, solar PV technology, and metering frameworks (prepaid/postpaid, AMI, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Work Environment & Travel:
- Primary location is Abuja, with frequent travel to project sites across Nigeria.
- Field work may include extended stays in off-grid or rural areas.
