Job Title: QHSE Officer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Employment Type: Full-time

Overall Purpose of Job

  • Assist in administering and improving the company’s quality, Health, Safety, and Environment management programmes in accordance with best practices in the Oil and Gas Sector and International QHSE requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in QHSE supervision for all projects including that of contractors
  • Monitoring compliance with the company QHSE procedures
  • Assessing work – related risks and ensuring that mitigation actions are implemented
  • Ensure that all work environments are QHSE compliant
  • Assist in QHSE in-house audits and inspections to assess company compliance with QHSE plan and follow up to ensure action items are closed out
  • Report all safety acts worthy of emulation and announcement
  • Assist int the monthly QHSE meetings and follow up action items
  • Assist in calibration of equipment
  • Assist in improving the level of awareness and conformance to QHSE and Security standards by staff through effective trainings and communication.
  • Stop any activity that is a threat to the personnel and public’s health and safety
  • Assist in QHSE audits at project sites ensuring identified actions are taken

Person Specification & Required Competencies

  • A minimum of first degree with 3 years working experience in the Oil and Gas Industry in a similar role.
  • Valid QHSE Certifications – ISPoN, or NEBOSH, or, ISO 45001: 2018 internal Auditors certifications etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to implement and monitor QHSE management systems
  • Must be computer literate, and have the ability to manage the company’s QHSE database
  • A team player
  • Should be a quick thinker and respond quickly to any emergency situation
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office tools.
  • Very sound written, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent coordination and interpersonal skills
