Job Title: Quality Inspector
Locations: Port Harcourt, Rivers and Lagos
Job Description
- In this role, you will work closely with our Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and departments across the Group.
- The primary role of the Quality Officer/Inspector appointed by the Company and performing quality assurance functions in the Aircraft Maintenance Service, Flight / Ground Operations & Crew Training departments respectively is to verify by monitoring activity in the fields of Flight Operations, Crew Training, Maintenance, Engineering, Passenger Handling, Ground Handling Services & Cargo activities, that the standards required by the NCAA and any additional requirements defined by the Company, are maintained under the supervision of the relevant nominated Post Holder.
Responsibilities
As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for:
- Performing investigations, audits and inspections as part of ongoing quality assurance.
- Identifying and record any concerns or findings, and the evidence necessary to substantiate such concerns or findings.
- Proposing or recommending solutions to concerns or findings through designated reporting channels and methods.
- Writing his/her own correspondence.
- Archiving his/her own documents.
- Establishing the audit plan for own activity covering all aspects of the Nig. CARs requirements.
- Preparing the Management Review for own activity.
- Preparing monthly activities Quality and bi-annual quality report to Safety & Quality Manager
- Verifying the implementation of solutions within specific time scales.
- Holding quality briefings in his/her own activity.
- Working out quality indicators related to own activity.
- Following external auditors and inspectors, if requested to do so.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities of the Quality Officer/ Inspector in Flight/ Ground Operations Services:
- Supervising, managing & distributing relevant information on all OPS documents.
- Keeping the Operations Manuals held by the Quality Department up to date.
- Relaying findings and recommendations of the local Authority to Flight Operations and Crew Training.
- Auditing Ground Handling Agent
- Registering his/her own internal and external correspondence and keep files.
- Distributing Quality Plan and Quality Instructions relating to his sector of activity.
- Giving the internal agreement for providers and subcontractors.
- Auditing outstations (if suitable).
Additional Duties and Responsibilities of the Quality Officer/ Inspector in Aircraft Maintenance Service:
- Keeping the Maintenance Control and Procedure manuals held by the Quality Department up to date.
- Registering his/her own internal and external correspondence and keeps files
- Distributing quality plan and quality instructions relating to his sector of activity
- Overseeing functions in the Company’s Technical Store
- Following the qualifications of the certifying staff & issue their qualification cards
- Managing & updating the list of certifying staff
- Giving the internal administrative agreement for providers and sub-contractors.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities of the Aircraft Quality Control Inspector:
- Monitoring performance of inspection of all maintenance performed on the Company’s aircraft, ascertaining that it meets the requirements of the Authority at all times and in accord with the Company’s Maintenance Manuals and the contents of the Operating Specifications.
- Reviewing ongoing aircraft work, use of task cards, maintenance procedures (including paperwork) and communications between maintenance and operations to determine if training can improve safety, reliability, or performance.
- Maintaining files of completed work orders and inspection forms in such a manner that the file pertaining to a specific item repaired can be readily located for review.
- Managing and supervising assigned inspection personnel, dissemination of inspection policy and procedure changes, on the job inspection training and care/control of inspection tools and equipment.
- Providing continuity of inspection responsibility, assuring completion of the required inspection when personnel shift or assignment changes occur.
- Collecting all Airworthiness Releases from all Maintenance and overhaul contracting agencies used by the Company.
- Establishing and maintaining the Company’s Aircraft Weight and Balance programme for the scheduled weighing of aircraft. Responsible for informing Operations of any changes to the weight and balance of an aircraft and to revise the Weight & Balance manual in a timely manner to reflect those changes.
- Providing sufficient monitoring to assure identification and documentation of Inspection Program deficiencies.
- Monitoring the performance of receiving inspections on all materials being responsible for the final acceptance of all incoming materials, including new parts, supplies and the airworthiness of articles on which work has been performed outside the repair station by contract.
- Monitoring qualification of Personnel for Special Authorization
- Maintaining the Company’s aircraft weight and balance records for dissemination to other operating departments and the Authority as required.
- Maintaining an audit and control system for the inspection and calibration of precision tools and test equipment. Assuring that periodic checks are made on all inspection tools and the calibration of precision test equipment used by the AMO and mechanics that have their own precision equipment. Further assure that a current record of those inspections and test is maintained.
Requirements
What are we looking for?
- BSc/HND/OND in any relevant field
- 3 years Experienced in any field of Aviation. eg, maintenance, flight crew etc. supervisory level will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of the documentation associated with mandatory requirements for aircraft maintenance, flight operations and other operational activities as specified in Nig. CARs Part 5, 6, 9 and the Company internal requirements.
- Working knowledge of applicable regulations and standards plus an understanding of the concepts and aims of Quality Assurance, Airworthiness and Quality Audits.
- Have completed and passed a recognized auditor training course.
- Language proficiency and good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Minimum of 3years experience in any aviation field eg maintenance flight crew etc supervisory level will be an advantage.
- Certification in Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (AMEL)
- A good knowledge of the relevant aviation regulations and the Company’s Quality Management System.
- Honesty, managing, organizing, initiative, judgments, tact and ability to maintain harmonious working relationship.
