Job Title: Research Assistant

Location: Taraba 

Employment Type: Contract

Number of Positions: Multiple (per LGA of assignment)

Contract Type: Short-term (10 working days, non-pensionable, no gratuity)

Project: CIWHIN+ (Comprehensive and Inclusive Women’s Health Initiative Plus)

Implementing Partner: Bingham University Teaching Hospital (BHUTH)

Funding Partner: CBM

Location: Taraba States (selected LGAs)

Duration: 10 working days (including weekends)

About the Project

  • The CBM/BHUTH CIWHIN+ Project is conducting a Gender Analysis and Resources Mapping Survey across selected LGAs in Gombe and Taraba States.
  • The survey will provide critical insights to improve inclusive women’s health interventions and strengthen local health systems.
  • We are recruiting competent and committed Research Assistants (RAs) to support this exercise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect high-quality data using Kobo Toolbox for Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA)/Resource Mapping tools.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of respondents’ information.
  • Ensure personal safety and compliance with project security protocols.
  • Submit data daily to supervisors and actively participate in debrief sessions.
  • Uphold the highest standards of data integrity; data falsification is strictly prohibited and will lead to immediate termination.
  • Ensure adherence to BHUTH’s PSEA, Fraud, and Child Protection policies. Any violation will result in contract termination.
  • Report directly to the Lead Consultant.

Requirements

  • Minimum of OND/NCE (Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, or related fields is an added advantage).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work respectfully with communities.
  • Commitment to maintaining data quality, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Must be an indigene or resident of Taraba state of the assigned LGA.
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection for KIIs, FGDs, PRA, or resource mapping.
  • Proficiency in KoboCollect or other digital survey tools.

Remuneration & Support

  • Daily stipend for the period working days.
  • Travel stipend (for field movement within LGAs).
  • Data allowance for the period of engagement.
  • No pension or gratuity is attached to this role.
