Job description: Renmoney is on the lookout for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. You will be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.Responsibilities
- Prepare, examine, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP).
- Manage and oversee general ledger activities, including reviewing and approving journal entries and schedules.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process by providing accurate financial data and insightful variance analysis.
- Conduct periodic reconciliations of bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other financial ledgers.
- Ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings and financial returns, particularly to bodies such as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
- Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audits, acting as a key point of contact for auditors and regulatory authorities.
- Implement and monitor robust internal controls to mitigate financial risks and prevent fraud or mismanagement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to provide financial insights that drive business performance.
- Drive the automation and continuous improvement of accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 8+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a bank
- Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, ICAN) is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of accounting software and proficiency in MS Excel.
- In depth knowledge of IFRS
- Audit experience (internal or external)
- Experience with consolidated financial statements
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities, meeting tight deadlines
