Role Description
- This is a full-time on-site role as a Senior Finance Officer located in Lagos.
- The Senior Finance Officer will be responsible for managing financial statements, conducting financial analysis, financial reporting, and communication related to financial matters.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A):
- Developing and overseeing the annual budget and forecasting processes.
- Analyzing financial performance against targets, identifying variances, and recommending corrective actions.
- Conducting financial modeling and projections for strategic initiatives and long-term planning.
- Providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making across the organization.
Controllership and Accounting Operations:
- Overseeing all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Establishing and maintaining strong internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
- Ensuring efficient and effective financial systems and processes.
Tax Planning and Compliance:
- Developing and implementing tax strategies to minimize the company’s tax burden.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Managing relationships with tax authorities and advisors.
Team Leadership and Management:
- Building, leading, and developing a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Setting goals, providing guidance, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identifying and evaluating financial risks (e.g., market risk, credit risk, operational risk).
- Developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies and policies.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Financial Reporting:
- Directing the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements (e.g., income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement).
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Presenting financial reports and findings to the CEO, board of directors, and other stakeholders.
Treasury and Cash Management:
- Managing the company’s cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs.
- Overseeing banking relationships and managing debt and equity financing.
- Making investment decisions and managing the company’s investment portfolio.
- Managing foreign exchange and interest rate risk.
Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A):
- Providing financial due diligence and analysis for potential acquisitions, divestitures, and mergers.
- Structuring and negotiating deals, and overseeing the financial integration of acquired entities.
Investor Relations:
- Communicating the company’s financial performance and outlook to investors and analysts.
- Building and maintaining relationships with the investment community.
Technology and Systems:
- Overseeing the implementation and management of financial software and systems.
- Leveraging technology to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.
Qualifications
- Financial Reporting and Financial Statements skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Relevant certification such as CPA or CFA is a plus
- Experience in the development or investment sector is beneficial.
- Analytical skills in financial analysis
- Strong background in finance
