Job description: We are looking for a Senior Procurement Lead to join our Finance team as we scale up and drive digital and financial inclusion across our markets.This role involves optimizing our procurement function while contributing to accounting accuracy, developing and executing procurement strategies, managing key vendor relationships, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction, and driving continuous improvement in cost efficiency and processes. A unique aspect of this role involves approximately 20% of responsibilities dedicated to ensuring the accuracy of procurement-related accounting entries and supporting the finance team.Leading procurement initiatives you will work as a strategic partner, vendor relationship manager and process optimizer within a team which places emphasis on cost efficiency, operational excellence and continuous improvement as well as accounting accuracy across all procurement activities.About UsThis role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in optimizing our procurement function across multiple strategic areas. You will be responsible for developing and implementing effective procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals, conducting market research to identify potential suppliers, and contributing to annual procurement plans and budgets. The position involves building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with key strategic vendors, negotiating contracts and favorable terms, while monitoring vendor performance against agreed KPIs.At M-KOPA, you will have the opportunity to drive cost-saving initiatives throughout the procurement process, analyze spending patterns for consolidation opportunities, and implement efficiency improvements that reduce lead times and administrative overhead. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across various departments, ensuring their procurement needs are met while maintaining clear communication regarding status, timelines, and challenges. The unique combination of procurement expertise and financial responsibility means you will also ensure accurate processing of purchase orders and invoices while collaborating with the finance team to reconcile records and resolve discrepancies.This is an on-site role, you would be working from our offices in Nigeria, partnering with a diverse group of employees from our different markets and locations across the UK, Europe and Africa. You will be reporting to the Finance Manager & Group Procurement Manager.ExpertiseOur expectations are that you would be comfortable working as part of a cross-functional team which owns the entire procurement lifecycle, including vendor management, cost optimization and financial accuracy, throughout strategic planning to implementation under a collaborative culture. We are looking for good grasp of and experience with procurement strategy, vendor management, ERP systems, financial processes and process improvement.Essential requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Finance or related field, along with a minimum of three years’ experience in data capturing, finance or procurement environment.
