The Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, Rivers State, is situated in the South-South Zone of the country and was established in 2014 by the Federal Government of Nigeria. It was established with the mission of being recognized globally as the leading institution in the middle and high manpower training and development for the oil and gas industry. The Polytechnic runs National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND).
We are recruiting qualified candidates to fill the positions below:
Job Title: Chief Security Officer
Location: Bonny, Rivers
Job Responsibilities
- Preparation of unit’s budget;
- Taking charge of the welfare of the unit’s formulation of security regulations and guidelines for the Polytechnic
- Directing visitors to various destinations in the Polytechnic iv. Protecting Polytechnic’s property including buildings, stores,motor vehicles and equipment;
- Inspecting and maintaining records for incoming and outgoing vehicles and visitors:
- Compiling and submitting security report on daily basis; vii. Patrolling and/ or guard of access points;
- Prevention of unauthorized persons and vehicles from entering premises and/or protected areas;
- Controlling and reporting of intruders into restricted areas and prevention and detection of crime;
- Compiling and submitting security report on daily and monthly basis and recommending appropriate action;
- Recording security related events in the occurrence book; xii. Keeping custody of lost and found property, Conducting induction for new security staff;
- Conducting drills;
- Ensuring that action is taken on physical deficiencies and lapses in the Polytechnic
- Liaising with Police department on security matters within the Polytechnic and its environs;
- Supervising and conducting performance appraisals for departmental staff.
- Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
The candidate for the post must possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- He must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management. Master’s degree or professional certifications in security management, risk management, or facilities/operations management. Criminal Justice, Criminology, Public Safety, Homeland Security, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- A retired military personnel of the rank of Major and above or its equivalent in the armed forces or a retired police officer of the rank Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and above.
- Management level security experience: typically 7-15 years in security or protective services, with a track record of progressively responsible leadership roles.
- He must be experienced in safeguarding campus facilities, students, staff, and assets are highly valuable.
- Experience in Budget development and budgetary control for a security or facilities unit. Policy development, implementation, and enforcement of security regulations. Incident command, emergency response, and continuity of operations planning.
- Access control and patrol operations. Experience with visitor management, access point control, and patrol/routing optimization. Knowledge of physical security systems (CCTV. access control, Intrusion Detection Systems, alarm systems).
- Investigations and reporting. Conducting investigations, maintaining incident/occurrence records, and generating security reports (daily, monthly, as required).
- Coordinating with police, campus administration, facilities, IT, and risk management.
- People management. Supervising security staff, conducting performance appraisals, and delivering training/inductions.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and standards (local laws, labor regulations, health and safety).

Job Title: Director of Physical Planning
Location: Bonny, Rivers
Job Summary
- The Polytechnic Director of Physical Planning is responsible to the Rector for Physical development, master plan, evaluation and implementation, assessment, implementation of projects, preparation of estimates and returns on projects to Government, other funding agencies for grants as well as perform other assignments by the Rector.
Qualifications and Experience
- Applicant must possess good Bachelor’s Degree/HND (minimum of second class lower/Lower Credit) in relevant fields 5 of Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Building Technology, Urban & Regional Planning, Estate Management & Valuation from a recognized Institution with at least 18 years post qualification cognate experience or with Master’s Degree plus 15 years and/or Doctorate Degree plus 12 years post- qualification experience.
- Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet short deadlines. Must be an individual with impeccable character.
- Must not be more than 59 years of age at the time he/she assumes duty.
- Must possess current practicing license.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years professional license

Job Title: Director of Works and Services
Location: Bonny, Rivers
Job Description
- The Director of Works is responsible to the Rector for the overall control of Works and Services Department.
- He provides strategies for the provision of efficient services in ine with the institutional goals.
- He advises the Rector on the acquisition of assets for the Polytechnic and plans the operation of plants and machinery as well as the maintenance of buildings in the constituent units of the Polytechnic.
- He is expected to prepare the Works Department budget and exercise budgetary control.
- He keeps inventory of the Polytechnic vehicles and responsible for their maintenance.
Qualification and Experience
- Applicant must possess a good Bachelor’s Degree / HND (minimum of second class lower/Lower Credit) in relevant fields of Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University with at least 18 years post qualification relevant experience or with Master’s Degree plus 15 years andror Doctorate Degree plus 12 years post-qualification experience.
- He must be fully registered with relevant professional body bodies i.e. COREN, NSE for a minimum of five (5) years and similar bodies for other professions.
- Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet short deadlines.
- Must be an individual with impeccable character.

Job Title: Director of Procurement
Location: Bonny, Rivers
Job Description
- He will be in-charge of purchases and upplies in the Polytechnic, creating and implementing procurement wolicies and maintaining vendor relationships.
- Overseeing logistics, Manning and purchasing to ensure the consistency, cost-effectiveness, ficiency and adequacy of the procurement process.
- Responsible for overseeing and facilitating the purchasing strategy, supervising teams of ubordinates staff in purchasing and ensuring and ensuring all employees and processes meet the standards and designations for work quality.
- Maintaining in-depth knowledge of the market to ensure best value and ractices are maintained.
- Developing a procurement plan and ensuring hat it is clearly communicated,
- Forecasting ongoing demand for goods and services.
- Negotiating contracts and service agreements with suppliers.
- Forecasting price trends and prediction.
- Monitor, review and analyze bids and quotes with suppliers, works and including the megotiation of service agreements.
- Oversee sources for purchasing Supplies Maintain budget and streamine costs.
Qualification and Experience
- Applicant must possess a good Bachelor’s Degree / HND (minimum of second class lower/lower Credit) in Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply/Procurement and Supply Chain, Quantity Surveying, Banking and Finance, Law, Insurance, Economics or any other relevant discipline with at least 18 years post academic qualification work experience or a Master’s Degree with at least 15 years post qualification work experience, and must have a Bureau of Public Procurement conversion/Annuit Certification.
- Must be a person of high integrity who demonstrates transparency in public and private lives and is expected to command the respect and loyalty of staff in the Polytechnicii.
- He/She must also be receptive to new deas and willing to translate the ideas into action in line with the visions and missions of the Polytechniciv.
- Must be a registered member of Institute of Purchase Practitioners and any other relevant professional bodies for a minimum of five (5) years.

Job Title: Polytechnic Librarian
Location: Bonny, Rivers
Job Summary
- The Polytechnic Librarian is the Chief Library Officer and shall be responsible to the Rector for the administration of the Polytechnic Library services in the teaching units of the Polytechnic.
- In addition to proven experience in library management and leadership, the successful candidate must have a demonstrable passion for academic endeavors and must also be credible.
Qualifications and Experience
The candidate for the post must possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- Master’s Degree from a recognized institution in Library Science or Library and Information Science, while possession of a doctorate degree (Ph.D) will be an added advantage;
- Have a minimum of second-class lower division degree or a minimum of Lower Credit in Higher National Diploma (HND) in Library Science or Library and Information Science from recognized institution;
- Minimum of eighteen (18) years cognate experience in tertiary institutions, at least ten (10) years of which must have been gained in a Polytechnic or similar TVET institution;
- Be currently on the rank of a Chief Librarian from the Polytechnic sector with not less than Five (5) years’ experience on the rank;
- Demonstrate evidence of strong academic and administrative leadership, initiative and creativity in library policy formulation, good human relations and positive managerial attributes;
- Provide evidence of membership of professional body/bodies in the Library recognized by the Federal Government;
- Provide evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals as well as presentation of invited papers at educational/library conferences, seminars and workshops;
- Be a person who is not likely to pursue racial, gender, political, religious or other sectional interests;
- Morally sound, of impeccable character, proven integrity and free from financial embarrassment;
- Physically and mentally fit (with evidence from a Government hospital and;
- Proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills and packages;
- Not more than Fifty-nine (59) years of age as at the date the post will be vacant.
Terms of Appointment and Conditions of Service
- The appointment is for single tenure of five (5) years in line with extant provisions.
- The salary is consolidated and the appointee shall enjoy any other benefits attached to the position of a Principal Officer of the Polytechnic as approved by the Federal Government.
