Job description: Job Description:Our client is a dynamic and growing investment management firm in Nigeria, dedicated to providing exceptional financial guidance and robust portfolio management services.Job SummaryThe VP Sales and Marketing position is a critical leadership role and will be responsible for spearheading our growth by developing, building, and fostering robust relationships throughout the Nigerian wealth management investment community. The ideal candidate will possess deep experience and established relationships across all channels of wealth management, with a proven track record of fundraising and product distribution.Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sales Leadership: Develop, lead the implementation of, and continuously refine a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy to achieve aggressive growth targets and market penetration within the Nigerian wealth management sector.
- Relationship Building & Client Acquisition: Proactively identify, build, and foster strong relationships with investment advisors, private bankers, independent wealth managers, multi-family offices, and high-net-worth individuals across all regions of Nigeria.
- Targeted Outreach: Systematically map and target investors not currently engaged with the Company, introducing them to the company’s product offerings and value proposition.
- Client Retention & Enhancement: Work diligently to enhance relationships with the firm’s existing Nigerian wealth management clients, ensuring continued satisfaction and deepened partnerships.
- Performance & Fundraising: Set, monitor, and achieve ambitious monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and fundraising targets for various investment products and services, driving the achievement of Key Performance Metrics (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) set forth by leadership.
- Market Insight: Develop a deep understanding of our clients’ needs, including product preferences, structural requirements, fee expectations, and prevailing industry trends.
- Sales Force Management: Manage, motivate, and mentor the sales force, providing ongoing training, performance feedback, and support to maximize their potential and drive successful adoption of the company’s products across the wealth management channel.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work effectively with various internal teams (Strategic Partnerships, Client Services, Legal, Compliance, Fund Management, Tax, Accounting, etc.) to effectively represent and communicate the firm’s value proposition, product capabilities, and firm activity to current and prospective clients.
- Client Engagement: Lead and participate in client meetings and presentations across Nigeria to effectively present the Firm’s funds, products, and capabilities.
- Market Intelligence & Feedback: Consistently maintain a feedback loop with the company leadership and the broader investment relations team, providing insights on market dynamics, client needs, and competitive landscape.
- Business Tracking & Analysis: Track and monitor key business metrics across the Nigerian footprint to inform strategy and identify areas for optimization.
- Product Development & Launch: Assist in the development of new product launch plans and sales strategies tailored for the Nigerian market.
- Industry Representation: Attend and actively participate in industry functions, association events, and conferences, providing insights on market and creative trends relevant to the wealth management space.
Qualifications:· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.An MBA is a significant advantage.Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in sales and marketing within the financial services industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacity.
- Proven experience working within the sales and marketing division of a reputable commercial bank in Nigeria, with a deep understanding of their wealth management and private banking operations, is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising and product distribution within the Nigerian wealth management community.
- Experience in the distribution of alternative investment products and structures (e.g., private equity, real estate, hedge funds, mutual funds), especially semi-liquid offerings, is a strong plus.
Professional Expertise:
- Excellent sales, communication, organizational, and leadership skills, including a strong aptitude for interfacing with executives at partner firms and high-net-worth individuals.
- Deep understanding of the Nigerian wealth management industry, including knowledge of financial intermediaries, independent financial advisors, and family offices.
- Strong working knowledge of macroeconomics, asset allocation principles, fixed income, equity, and alternative investment markets.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the competitive landscape of the alternative investment marketplace in Nigeria.
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Highly adaptable, capable of processing a large volume of information and managing competing priorities effectively.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce), Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and ideally, marketing automation platforms.
