Agricultural Extension Officer at Global Peace Development


Global Peace Development (GPD) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in April 2002 and focuses on promoting peace for development in Nigeria. The organization envisions a country where peace and development is enjoyed by all. GPD seek to build peace, gender equality, social justice, and foster democracy and governance at the community, local, state, and national levels.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Agricultural Extension Officer

Locations: Yobe North, Yobe South and Yobe East – Yobe

Employment Type: Contract

Job Summary

  • The Agricultural Extension Officer will support the implementation of climate-smart agricultural practices, facilitate farmer capacity-building, and provide continuous technical advisory services to beneficiary communities. 
  • The role will be based in one of the three senatorial districts and will require frequent field visits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mobilize and support farmers to adopt sustainable and climate-resilient farming methods.
  • Conduct field level training, and capacity building sessions for smallholder farmers.
  • Collect and report field data including success stories, farmer feedback, and progress updates.
  • Work closely with State ACReSAL teams, and community based structures ( CIGs, CRFs, and Site Committee)
  • Ensure proper documentation, attendance, and reporting of field activities.
  • Promote agroforestry, soil conservation, and water use efficiency practices.
  • Assist in monitoring livestock performance and provide technical backstopping.

Qualifications and Experience

  • B.Sc/HND in Agricultural Extension, Agronomy, Crop Science, Animal Science, or related field
  • Applicant must reside in any of the three senatorial districts
  • Applicant should be fluent in Kanuri, Hausa and/or local languages spoken in the assigned senatorial district is required.
  • At least 5 years of field experience in agricultural extension, climate-resilient agriculture, environment, or livelihood programming.
  • Familiarity with rural communities and farming practices in Yobe State.

Work Station:

  • One officer will be assigned per Senatorial District (Yobe North, Yobe South, Yobe East).
