Job Summary
- The Biomedical Engineer at Sixthlab Medical Nigeria Ltd provides hands-on technical support in the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of medical and laboratory equipment.
- The role supports the sales, operations, and service teams to ensure equipment reliability, client satisfaction, and adherence to regulatory and OEM standards.
- The engineer is expected to work independently on routine tasks while escalating complex issues to senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Installation & Maintenance:
- Install, test, and commission medical, diagnostic, and laboratory equipment.
- Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance sheets, and calibration records.
- Ensure compliance with OEM guidelines and industry safety standards.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure optimal functionality.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment in line with manufacturer specifications.
Technical Support & Client Training:
- Provide timely technical support to clients both on-site and remotely.
- Train clients and healthcare professionals on proper equipment usage and basic maintenance.
- Assist the sales team with product demonstrations, quotations, and technical insights.
- Participate in OEM training and share acquired knowledge with the team.
Client Relations & After-Sales Support:
- Respond promptly to client inquiries and service requests.
- Support after-sales processes to enhance customer experience and retention.
- Uphold professionalism and technical excellence during all engagements.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Conduct performance verification tests and support quality audits.
- Ensure equipment meets regulatory and internal quality standards.
- Stay updated on new technologies, best practices, and equipment changes.
- Support documentation and submission of technical reports for compliance checks.
Inventory & Asset Management:
- Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumables.
- Submit requests for required spares and follow up on procurement.
- Work with warehouse/operations teams to dispatch and receive equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
- B.Sc / HND qualification in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Technology, Electrical / Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
- OEM training or certifications (added advantage).
- Experience working in a medical equipment company or hospital biomedical department is preferred.
- 2 – 3 years practical experience in medical or laboratory equipment maintenance.
- Experience with installations, calibrations, and repairs of common biomedical devices.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Solid understanding of biomedical and laboratory equipment.
- Good communication skills for client interaction and training.
- Strong teamwork and willingness to learn advanced equipment handling.
- Attention to detail and adherence to safety/regulatory standards.
- Good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for mid-complexity issues.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping ability.
Salary
N150,000 – N180,000 monthly.
