Bio-medical Technician
Responsibilities
- Performing preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective repairs on a wide range of clinical equipment to ensure functionality, as described by Indeed and this source.
- Testing, calibrating, and certifying that medical machinery meets safety and regulatory standards, such as electrical safety tests on patient-facing equipment
- Installing new equipment and troubleshooting malfunctions, often under time-sensitive emergency conditions
- Keeping accurate, detailed records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Educating doctors, nurses and oter clinical professionalson the safe and proper operation of medical devices.
Requirements
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related electronics field
- Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician(CBET) and a member of the relevant professional body ABETN is preferred
- Strong understanding of electronics, electrical circuits, mechanics, and physiology.
- Problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot complex, faulty machinery.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varied hospital environments.
